Have any of you are doing/have done your NQT year in a sixth form college?

A job has come up in a local one and im very keen to apply. I'm coming to the end of my PGCE and have discovered that I really do not like teaching KS3, KS4 is OK but I much prefer teaching A-level because that's where it becomes proper science!

I know the pay is slightly less in sixth form colleges but nothing strikes out as being much different than school, except obviously behaviour will probably be a bit better. Although I'm under no illusion that it will be problem-free!

Compared to my fellow students I have had substantial A-level teaching experience due to the nature of my placements and have had good feedback on my A-level teaching. I hope this will put me in good stead and im praying I will get an interview.

It is possible to do induction in a sixth form college, but this needs to be agreed between the college and the LA beforehand and there are some special arrangements that need to be made (see the NQT statutory guidance section - 2.8 in particular - here: http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/_doc/12703/080623%20Induction%20Statutory%20Guidance.pdf

If you get to interview you must ask if they would consider induction and if they have done this previously with another NQT.

You do not have to do induction in a sixth form college, but if you decide to move to another state school afterwards which is not a sixth form or FE college then you would be subject to induction.
