It is possible to complete induction at an independent school, but it is not a requirement. So the school must agree to place you on induction and agree with an appropriate body that you are on induction. The appropriate body can be the Independent Schools Council Teacher Induction Panel (ISCTIP) or a local authority. From September this year there are new induction arrangements and your 'banked' two terms are safe, but for your final term you will be assessed against the new standards for teachers (which come into effect from September 1st) and the new induction arrangements (which differ slightly from the current ones). In addition to the ISCTIP and the LA teaching schools may also act as an appropriate body. Independent schools will have to pay for induction but if you are provided with induction then the school must give you a mentor as well as a reduced timetable and they must follow thye guidelines.
