This activity provides four background scenes for pupils to re-tell the Christmas Story. For each one, there is a bank of characters which can be dragged into place. There is an optional text area for pupils (or the teacher in a shared writing task) to tell the story in their own words.

Pupils are awarded effort grade for each lesson. a - 3 points, b - 2 points and c - 1 point. This is then assembled into a league table similar to the premiership league table.

I had the idea of using Danny Wallace as the basis for her assembly. We are a class of year 4 but probably suitable for any year group. It could have as many or as few readers as you need, and we all made Join me posters to use as the children got up on the stage.
